Why “Busy” Isn’t My Leadership Identity Anymore

Hello Reader,

Welcome to my newsletter!

Each month, I open my chair to you — sharing reflections on conscious leadership, practical tools to sharpen your skills, and resources that support both personal and professional fulfillment.

This is a space for conscious leaders. Because in a world driven by data, the greatest advantage isn’t more information — it’s the courage to stay deeply human.

He who knows, does not speak. He who speaks, does not know.
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

From My Chair to Yours

Since starting my business, there’s been this quiet, almost dizzying joy in doing work I love — work I feel called to do.

But here’s the truth: there’s also a tug. A pull from an old script I know too well — the one that measured my worth by my paycheck and title, that told me if I just worked harder, pushed longer, and bent the world to my will, I could earn my way into security and success.

In that old life, busy was my badge of honor. I knew how to answer the question, “How are you?” with the socially approved, “Busy, but good.” And for a long time, that felt like enough.

Now, in this new season, I’m not ignoring depletion — I notice it when it shows up, and it’s far less frequent than it used to be. Fulfillment is the goal, and more often than not, it’s exactly what I experience.

It’s a strange thing to feel like an alien in a world that worships busyness, and instead choose space, depth, and presence. But it’s a strangeness I’m learning to love.

Reflection: What’s one old script you’ve outgrown that still tries to call you back?

Conscious Leadership Corner

Leadership isn’t just what you say — it’s the space you hold before you speak. That moment between stimulus and response is where emotional intelligence lives.

Micro-practice:

  • Next time you feel the urge to answer quickly, take one slow breath before you respond.
  • In that space, ask: “What does this moment really need?”
  • Then answer from clarity, not reactivity.

Small pauses change big conversations.

Books That Built Me

Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender — David R. Hawkins

  • Why it mattered: This book helped me understand that much of my stress wasn’t from the world, but from my resistance to it.
  • Key takeaway: Freedom often comes when we stop wrestling with reality and start aligning with it.
  • Who it’s for: Leaders and seekers who are ready to stop pushing through life and start flowing with it.
